- Assignment Seismic Vulnerability Assessment
The Italian Navy Department, also called "MARIDIPART- La Spezia ", has a very elongated rectangular shape with dimensions around 108x31 m. From a "morphological" point of view, the building consists of three "parts": a central body and two head parts. The covered area is approximately 2300 square meters.
The building is spread over four floors above ground. There is also a basement floor. Structurally it consists of a main building, called structural unit "A", and two appendices called structural units "B" and "C". The structural unit "A" is made of masonry mixed with r.c. frames, the structural units “B” and "C" are two r.c. extensions.
The project involved the development of a set of destructive and non-destructive, inspections, surveys and material testing in order to achieve the LC2 knowledge level.
The structural analyses have been conducted by Non-Linear Static Seismic Analysis and local analysis of the floors and masonry walls (local overturning failure mechanisms for load-bearing masonry walls).
